Purpose of the Study
The main aim of this study is to investigate the effect of a medicine called oseltamivir, on subjects who are already taking warfarin, on the clotting levels of the blood.
Oseltamivir is used for the treatment of influenza (flu) and is currently available on the market for the prevention and treatment of influenza in Europe, the USA and most countries in the world.
This study is being conducted at the request of the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human use (CHMP), and will look at the effect, if any, that oseltamivir has on the level of warfarin in blood, what effect this has on the clotting of blood in the human body and to assess the interaction of oseltamivir and warfarin.
The study consists of a screening visit, where the subject will have a full medical and a research physician will decide if they are suitable for the study, a 14 Day self INR monitoring period prior to your first admission, 2 treatment periods of 9 days in house and a follow up appointment.
