Medical research is an essential part of developing any new medicine or therapy. MS is seriously in need of patients willing to participate in studies to move forward the progress of researching better medicines and, hopefully, even a cure.

As someone who suffers from MS, this study is working directly with you to develop a new "Disease Modifying Drug" (DMD).

In recognition of your participation in this study you will receive:

  • £2,000 payment for your time and travel
  • Further access, if appropriate, to this therapy once the trial has ended

What is the Medicine?

This potential new medicine, CDP323, is a "Disease Modifying Drug" (DMD). Disease-modifying means treatment to delay, change or interrupt the natural course or progression of a disease.

This study aims to find out more information on what the optimum dosage is to give to MS patients. We measure blood levels after different doses to understand better how the body handles the drug and to see which doses are best tolerated.

Detailed information on this medicine can be found by downloading the study booklet.

Study Requirements

To qualify for participation you need to be

  • aged 18 - 65
  • diagnosed with MS with at least 1 relapse in the past 24 months
  • able to walk about 20 metres without resting, but using assistance (sticks, crutches, braces) if necessary
  • not currently taking beta-interferons or similar
  • registered with a GP, who will be informed of your participation

Treatment Period

We have a number of different groups running over July, August and September. Below is an example of one of our treatment periods. One of our experienced Volunteer Recruitment Team will be able to give you further details of all the available dates or view the current schedule here.

The study is carried out over 2 months with a 3 month and 12 month follow up to complete.
